PUYALLUP -- A Pierce County sheriff's officer says it appears that the double shooting that claimed the lives of a man and woman near Puyallup as a murder-suicide.

Neighbors reported hearing gunfire about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Sgt. Jerry Bates told KOMO-TV that deputies found a 46-year-old woman and a man in his 50s dead on the ground behind a trailer.

Bates said murder-suicide is officers' best initial theory.

He said the couple were living together in the trailer. Investigators said they're not looking for anyone else in the shooting.
