Boeing isn't keen on Airbus plant in Alabama
The possibility of Airbus adding a new jet factory in Alabama isn't sitting well with the Boeing Co.
On Wednesday, unnamed sources at Airbus told journalists that the company is close to announcing plans to open an A320neo assembly plant in Mobile, Alabama. That's where Airbus' parent company, EADS, had intended to assemble tankers if it had won a $35 billion Air Force tanker contract that went to Boeing.
The Chicago-based Boeing said Friday that a new U.S. facility won't make up for the illegal subsidies the European jet maker has received.
"While it is interesting once again to see Airbus promising to move jobs from Europe to the United States, no matter how many are created, the numbers pale in comparison to the thousands of U.S. jobs destroyed by illegal subsidies," Boeing said in a statement.

Airbus' announcement on the Alabama facility could come as early as Monday.
