Abrosimova back with the Storm

The Seattle Storm have signed free agent Svetlana Abrosimova to a contract the team announced today.

Abrosimova was a member of the 2010 WNBA championship team and is expected to join the team and suit up for Saturday's game against the New York Liberty.

"Svetlana obviously has got experience with our team," Storm head coach and general manager Brian Agler said. "She was part of our championship in 2010 -- played a really big role on that team. She's an aggressive defensive player; she's a risk-taker. I don't think that's so bad for our team right now. I think she gives us length on the perimeter. She gives us another ballhandler in the pick-and-roll. I think she'll do well with the people we have on our team."

Abrosimova has played nine seasons in the WNBA, including stops in Minnesota and Connecticut. In 2010 with the Storm, she played in all 34 regular season games, averaging 7.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and two assists in 20.2 minutes per game. Her career averages are 9.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

Abrosimova teamed with Storm point guard Sue Bird and former Storm player Swin Cash to help the University of Connecticut win the 2000 NCAA championship.
