Longview council keeps promise to end utility tax

LONGVIEW -- The Longview City Council voted Thursday to reject a proposal to extend a utility tax that was supposed to expire at the end of 2010.
The Daily News reported that council members said they wanted to keep a promise they broke two years ago because of a tight budget.
The tax generates about $500,000 a year. It will expire Dec. 31.
