SULTAN -- Two children were expected to survive after they were seriously injured Sunday in a car accident near Sultan.

The children, 5 and 11, were riding in a 2007 Dodge Caliber that went off Sultan Basin Road northeast of town and rolled over.

It happened about 4:30 p.m. a half-mile north of Kellogg Lake Road.

The driver, Joseph Paul Turner, 35, of Sultan, died at the scene from head injuries, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office. His death was ruled an accident.

Police on Monday would not say how the three people in the vehicle were related.

The children were taken to a Seattle hospital for medical treatment. Additional details about their condition were not available Monday.

Snohomish County sheriff's collision detectives processed the scene and collected evidence, bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said.

They were investigating whether alcohol or speed were factors in the crash.
