Overdue hikers found safe

GRANITE FALLS -- Three women were found safe Monday after being reported overdue from a hike near Granite Falls.
The hikers were due back late Sunday or early Monday, Snohomish County sheriff's bureau chief Kevin Prentiss said. They were on the Goat Lake trail, east of Granite Falls and north of Barlow Pass.
A friend called police about 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Rescue crews and a police helicopter headed to the area.
By early afternoon, the hikers were found and reported heading back to the trailhead, Prentiss said.
