ANA to raise $2.6B to buy Boeing 787s


The Boeing Co.'s 787 launch customer is seeking to raise roughly $2.6 billion to buy more Dreamliner jets.

Japan's All Nippon Airways plans to sell shares in an effort to raise funds for buying new aircraft, the airline said Tuesday.

ANA "is seeking to promote investment in strategic aircraft that have high economic efficiency, chiefly the state of the art Boeing 787s," the airline said.

Boeing delivered the first 787 to ANA last September.

ANA said last month that Boeing's 787 not only has won passengers' approval but also has exceeded expectations for fuel efficiency.

Already, ANA has ordered 55 Boeing 787s. In June, the carrier switched an order for four 787-8s to the 787-9 version of the Dreamliner, due to be delivered in early 2014.
