Crews were dispatched to the house in the 2800 block of Pine Street shortly before 4:50 a.m., Everett Fire Marshal Rick Robinson said.
Flames and smoke were coming from all levels of the house, Robinson said. Everett firefighters, helped by those from Naval Station Everett and Snohomish County District 4, controlled the fire in about 40 minutes.
The structure was too unstable to enter afterward, Robinson said. No cause was reported. Damage was estimated at $80,000.
The neighbors on one side of the house had to be evacuated for the night because the burned structure was leaning in the direction of their home, said Don Schwab, division chief for the Everett Fire Department. The burned house will have to be demolished, he said.
