SEATTLE -- Information from the public has helped police identify a woman who was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash.

Police in Renton said the woman was hit by a motorist Saturday morning as she was out walking or jogging along the road. The woman is in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

Officers found the woman in blackberry bushes after getting a report that a vehicle hit a pedestrian. Police asked the public for help in identifying the woman, who mentioned only part of her name before losing consciousness.

Cmdr. David Leibman tells KOMO-TV that the driver initially fled the scene but later returned and was arrested for investigation of vehicular assault.
