Man who died in Snohomish County Jail identified

EVERETT -- A man who died July 3 after collapsing at the Snohomish County Jail has been identified as Michael R. Saffioti, 22, of Mukilteo.

His death remains under investigation by Snohomish County sheriff's detectives and the Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office.

The medical examiner on Monday listed Saffioti's cause and manner of death as undetermined pending further study.

Saffioti was arrested on a warrant on July 2 and asked for medical attention from jail staff around 7:20 a.m. July 3, police said.

Corrections officers started CPR and called 911.

Saffioti was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett, where he died.

According to court records, Saffioti had a history of serious allergies and respiratory problems.
