NORTH BEND -- A hiker who had been missing in the Cascade foothills near North Bend has been found dead.

King County Sheriff's Sgt. Cindi West says the body of 50-year-old John Wright of University Place was spotted at about the 3,400-foot level in the Green Mountain area. He appeared to have fallen a few hundred feet.

West says the fall is believed to have been accidental, and it's not clear if he tripped or if the ground gave out underneath him.

Wright had been missing since Friday, when he failed to pick up his daughter, and teams found his car near the middle fork of the Snoqualmie River. About 50 people, including a dozen on horseback, were out looking for him Monday when his body was discovered.
