Not OK to ignore voting laws

In response to the Friday letter, "Silencing voters silences dissent": Yes, the "... right to vote is our primary voice of dissent ..." What we should all be disturbed about is the Justice Department and the Democrats trying to fix elections by allowing dead people and illegals to vote, and for people to vote multiple times under assumed names as promoted by ACORN. Does the letter writer feel that is right?

When picture ID is required to obtain welfare or other government benefits, or gain access to government buildings, it should not be an imposition for voters to show valid photo ID to vote. Republicans are trying to protect every individual's right to vote, Democrats, Republicans, and independents, and that those votes are valid. If the letter writer agrees with Eric Holder and the Democrats, that it is OK to allow these invalid votes, I should register my mother, father, brother and sister to vote here in Washington state (all dead, lived in another state when alive, and were previously registered as Democrats). I can also register myself to vote using six variations of my name. Canadians should register to vote, too, since we can register in this state by mail, without any ID.

The effort by red states to eliminate illegal votes by anyone, regardless of party affiliation, is admirable and patriotic. That does not take away the rights of legal citizens to vote. If the Democrats prefer it the other way, we could have all of the Brazilians, for example, registered to vote here in the USA. Per the current administration, it is okay to ignore the immigration laws of this country. Perhaps it is OK to ignore voter laws as well.

All voters should be required to prove citizenship and the voter rolls purged of illegal and dead voters annually.
