Stolen Valor Act

Did imposters take over court?

Regarding Jerry Cornfield's Thursday column, "High court ruling gives liars protection" Here we go again!

First the Supreme Court rules physical desecration of our nation's flag is protected as free speech. How can a physical act be free speech? But that is another matter. Now this "august" body gives liars supreme protection by overturning the Stolen Valor Act.

What's going on here? It seems that the ACLU, with the help of tort lawyers who seem to hate our way of life and government, use convoluted reasoning to twist the meaning of our Constitution to their way of thinking. They always find ways to protect malcontents who go against the grain of common, ordinary, law-abiding citizens. Would they help a regular Joe who made an honest mistake with his taxes, and the IRS was after him? No way!

Using their logic, it is OK to yell "fire" in a crowded theater. We all know what would happen to this person many years ago when I was young, law or no law. Yes, they say, the law is the law.

How about using some good old-fashioned common sense for a change?
