Index: Road to forest land repaired
Snohomish County has finished repairs to a flood-damaged section of Index-Galena Road to restore access to U.S. Forest Service land.
The work allows recreation, camping and access to mineral claims along the North Fork Skykomish River, Salmon Creek and Silver Creek. The area is in the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
Flooding on the Index-Galena Road in 2006 washed out parts of the road between mile posts 6.0 and 6.9. The flooding forced the closure of two campgrounds, one of which is now open and the other expected to open soon.
