Boeing's order total increases to 691 with air show boost

The Boeing Co.'s net order total so far this year climbed to 691 as the jet maker wrapped up this week's air show with a 150-jet deal from United Airlines.

Since last Thursday, Boeing has added 251 firm orders to its year-to-date tally. At the air show the company also announced several commitments that still need to be finalized before listing on the orders website.

Here's a list of Boeing's orders and commitments announced this week:

Virgin Australia ordered 23 737 MAX jets.

Air Lease Corp. ordered 75 737 MAX aircraft.

United Airlines ordered 100 737 MAX and 50 737 NG.

Undisclosed customer ordered three 737-800.

GE Capital Aviation Services committed to 75 MAX and 25 737 NGs.

ALAFCO committed to 20 737 MAX jets.

Avolon committed to 15 737 MAX and 10 737 NG aircraft.

Airbus said Thursday that it had won orders and commitments valued at $16.9 billion at the air show. Those requests included 54 firm orders and 61 commitments.

The European jet maker had 230 net orders at the end of June, which goes up with the new orders booked at Farnborough. Airbus has said that it will log fewer order in 2012, having won a record of 1,419 orders – many for its A320neo – last year. At this point in 2011, Airbus was out-booking Boeing by 3 to 1.
