STANWOOD -- Free showings of "Carbon Nation," a documentary by Peter Byck, are scheduled in advance of a conference this month regarding the future of the greater Stanwood community.
Organizers of the "Sustainable Destiny by Design" conference plan to show the film at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Snow Goose Bookstore, 8616 271st St. NW; 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Stanwood Camano Community Resource Center, Stanwood Towne Center, 9322 271st Suite A-9; and 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Country Club Fire Station, 1326 Elger Bay Road.
A community meeting about the future of the area generally within the boundaries of the Stanwood-Camano School District is set for 6 p.m. July 23 at Stanwood Middle School.
Over the course of three days, a visiting team from the American Institute of Architects plans to offer ideas about how people in the area can control the economic and design future of the community.
More information about the conference and ideas about creating a healthier community for the people of Stanwood, Warm Beach and Camano Island can be found at www.sustainabledestinybydesign.org.
