Corrections officer killed in Hoquiam, officials say

HOQUIAM -- A spokesman for the state Department of Corrections says the 20-year-old Aberdeen man stabbed to death in Hoquiam over the weekend was a state corrections officer.
KOMO-TV reported that the victim, Jon Favro, worked at the state prison in Shelton.
Police said Favro was stabbed to death early Saturday in Hoquiam. A 16-year-old has been arrested in connection with his death.
The homicide was discovered after a police officer on patrol came across a wrecked, abandoned car and a bloody knife at about 3:10 a.m. Saturday in Hoquiam. The car had crashed into a rock embankment, but there was no one insde.
About 30 yards away, the officer discovered a shoe in the roadway and a knife sheath spattered with blood. Favro's body was found a few blocks away.
