Granite Falls again mulls contracting police service

GRANITE FALLS -- The city again is considering contracting with the county sheriff for police services.

Granite Falls council members recently asked city staffers to meet with the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office and request cost estimates for a possible partnership, City Clerk Darla Reese said Wednesday.

Council members planned to discuss the topic and hear public comment at Wednesday night's meeting. No vote was planned.

City officials have floated the idea of a police contract multiple times in the past few years.

The sheriff's office serves unincorporated areas and a handful of smaller cities in the northern and eastern parts of the county.

If people have questions, they can call City Hall at 360-691-6441.
