Camano Island: Bee seminar tonight
Learn about the native bees common to Western Washington and why these pollinators are important to gardens.
Megan O'Brian, Snohomish Conservation District certified farm planner, is scheduled to talk about ways to make your landscape more hospitable to bees at 7 tonight at the Camano Multipurpose Center, 141 E. Camano Drive.

Darrington Area Business Association is scheduled to meet at 7 tonight at the Cascade Senior Center, 1115 Darrington St.

Marysville: Vacant planning commission seat
The city of Marysville is looking for someone to fill a vacant seat on the Planning Commission.
The seven-member commission is an advisory board to the mayor and City Council. The successful nominee would serve a six-year term.
Applicants must live within city limits. The appointment is made by the mayor and confirmed by the council.
People interested in applying should send a brief letter of interest and resume to the City Clerk's Office at Marysville City Hall, 1049 State Ave., Marysville, WA 98270.
The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Aug. 3.

Mukilteo: Library anniversary concert
The Everett Chorale is scheduled to perform a free outdoor concert at the Mukilteo Library on Saturday to celebrate Sno-Isle Libraries' 50th anniversary.
The event is planned for noon to 1 p.m. in the park next to the library at 4675 Harbour Pointe Blvd. N.

Stanwood: After-hours library party
Third-, fourth- and fifth-graders are invited to find out what happens after the library closes, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the Stanwood Library, 9701 271st St. NW.
The popular annual event includes a chance to make origami bugs and win a copy of "The Strange Case of Origami Yoda" or "Darth Paper Strikes Back," create shadow puppets and bring them to life and investigate the science of ice cream.
