Lake Washington sockeye

The count of Lake Washington-bound sockeye at the Ballard Locks was 128,896 fish as of July 16, which has nearly tripled the preseason forecast of 46,000. The escapement goal, however, is 350,000 salmon, so managers warn no one should get too optimistic about the chances for a season in the big, urban lake.
