Associated Press
BREMERTON -- Commanders of the USS John C. Stennis knew when the carrier returned to Bremerton in March from the Mideast it would be a short turnaround.
The strike group commander, Rear Adm. Charles Gaouette, said Wednesday he told the crew last week they'd be deploying four months early back to the Mideast.
The Kitsap Sun reported the Stennis had a mini-maintencence period in May and June and is now completing a month of training and qualification exercises off the California coast.
The Pentagon wants to keep two carriers in the Mideast. The Stennis will relieve the Enterprise and the Eisenhower will relieve the Lincoln.
