Robinson perfect for Nielsen's seat
Drew enthusiastically supported June's candidacy in the previous council election and never missed a chance to express his admiration for her thoughtful and intelligent leadership, integrity and work ethic, and perhaps most importantly, her capacity to work respectfully with others and build consensus. I suspect Drew appreciated June because he saw in her what we so admired in him and welcomed the opportunity to work with her to improve council productivity and decision-making.
The effectiveness of a city council relies on the make-up of its membership and the degree to which all constituencies of the community are represented. In the words of council member Brenda Stonecipher, who introduced June at a recent event, "June will bring a perspective to the city council that is not currently represented." June's deep resume in housing and health care are not replicated by any member of the council and yet these aspects of Everett life are of paramount and increasing importance to our community if we are to keep it safe and vibrant.
We have lost a great leader and friend it is true, and that loss is profound. But as we carry on, no one more than Drew would urge us to embrace the skills and talents of a woman who shares the vision he had for this city. Please vote for June Robinson in the upcoming primary and again in November to keep the voices of all Everett citizens alive in council chambers.
