Off like a herd of turtles:
About 1,600 turtles reportedly escaped from a turtle farm in Georgia after someone tore down fences and allowed the terrapins, destined for pet shops, to bolt for nearby ponds and creeks.
Pet shops are selling the absent turtles, who would have been released into the wild anyway when kids tired of them, as "pre-released for your convenience."
