Styx, country and teen pop stars on Evergreen stage

At first glance, it might seem the wide array of bands headlining the Evergreen State Fair this August have nothing in common.

But that’s not the case: They all have earned big successes on the Billboard charts.

The fair’s grandstand concert series runs from Aug. 27 to 31, with tickets on sale now.

First up is Styx, the classic rock band responsible for hits including “Come Sail Away” and “Mr. Roboto.” The 1970s arena rockers will play at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27. Tickets are $22 to $45.

Country star Rodney Atkins will take over at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 28. The singer’s new album, “Take a Back Road,” reached No. 8 on the Billboard 200, but he may be best known for his earlier crossover hit, “If You’re Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows).” Tickets are $22 to $45.

Pop stars Gavin DeGraw and Colbie Caillat will share the stage at 7 p.m. Aug. 29. DeGraw is most famous either for the hit “I Don’t Want to Be,” or for competing this year on “Dancing with the Stars.” Caillat, meanwhile, can claim several No. 1 adult contemporary hits, including the infectious “Bubbly” and “Brighter than the Sun.” Tickets are $27 to $50.

Teen pop star Demi Lovato will be joined by pop rockers Hot Chelle Rae at 7 p.m. Aug. 30. Lovato first hit it big on the Disney Channel, and now is touring behind her album, “Unbroken.” Opener Hot Chelle Rae scored a hit last year with the single “Tonight Tonight.” Tickets are $32 to $55.

Finally, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31, country singer Jake Owen will close the concert series. In the past two years, Owen has landed at the top of the country charts twice, with “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” and “Alone with You.” Tickets are $22 to $45.

For each show, ticket prices include the cost of fair admission. Tickets are available at www.EvergreenFair.org or 800-514-3849, ext. 2.

To avoid service fees, buy tickets at the Fairgrounds Administration Office, 14405 179th Ave. SE, Monroe. Call the office at 360-805-6700 for more information.
