Ryan Murray signs with Columbus
Silvertips captain Ryan Murray took the next step toward the NHL today, signing with the Columbus Blue Jackets. Murray, who was selected second overall in this year's NHL draft, inked the standard three-year entry-level contract.
This is yet another indication that Murray will not be back in Everett next season as a 19-year-old. The Tips are already preparing for life without Murray. With yesterday's news that Murray will be going straight to Columbus after playing in the Canada-Russia Challenge in August, followed by today's contract-signing announcement, it's pretty much reached the point where only an NHL lockout could send Murray back to the Tips for 2012-13.
