TACOMA -- Sam Parris finished 2-for-4 with three RBI and starting pitcher JoJo Howie threw eight strong innings Friday to help the Everett Merchants baseball team win its season finale, 7-4 over the Seattle Studs.
Everett jumped to a 3-0 lead on an Aaron Gates RBI single in the first and Parris' two-run double in the third. After the Studs scored a run in the sixth, Everett scored four times in the seventh to put the contest out of reach. Parris drew a bases-loaded walk, Ethan Yeo hit an RBI single and David Amberson capped the inning with a two-run triple.
Howie gave up two runs on four hits. He struck out seven in earning the victory.
The Merchants finished the season 14-6, tied with the Langley Blaze for second place in the Pacific International League, 31/2 games behind league-champion Seattle (18-3).
