EVERETT -- A day after announcing head coach Chris Hall will return for the 2013 season, the Washington Stealth began the process of re-signing players Friday, agreeing to terms with defensemen Curtis Hodgson and Matt Beers. Both signings are pending approval of the National Lacrosse League.
Hodgson joined the Stealth prior to the 2005 season. He ranks second on the Stealth's all-time regular-season games played list at 127 and seventh in loose balls with 486.
"Curtis is simply a rock and has been a fixture in our back end for years and having him back in 2013 is a very good thing for our team," general manager Doug Locker said in a press release. "He brings stability, smarts and leadership to our defense and continues to get better each and every season."
Beers is entering his fourth season with the Stealth and, though he is a defenseman, showed he could contribute offensively last season. He set career highs in goals (five), assists (11) and points (16). He also grabbed 59 loose balls.
"Matt is coming off a very good season in 2012 and has quickly developed into one of the best defenseman in the NLL," Locker said.
