Coast Guard Lt. Christopher B. Tuckey has assumed command of Coast Guard Cutter Henry Blake, a 175-foot coastal buoy tender homeported in Everett that ensures aids to navigation are properly maintained in Puget Sound. The change of command ceremony was Friday at Naval Station Everett.
A native of Cortland, N.Y., Tuckey earned his commission at the Coast Guard Officer Candidate School in New London, Conn., in 2002. Tuckey's most recent tour was aboard Coast Guard Cutter Cypress in Pensacola, Fla. Tuckey relieved Lt. Jason W. Haag, who will attend graduate school at Boston University. Haag received the Coast Guard Commendation Medal.
Air Force Airman 1st Lt. Christopher Ames has graduated from pilot training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Del Rio, Texas. He will be stationed at Dyess Air Force Base, Abilene, Texas, for B-1 bomber training. Ames is the son of Rusty and Debby Ames of Lake Stevens. He is a 2006 graduate of Lake Stevens High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Washington and the Reserve Office Training Corps program there.
Air Force Airman Benjamin Chumney graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Chumney earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Andrew Chumney of Lake Stevens and is a 2009 graduate of Lake Stevens High School.
Air Force Airman Cole Farley graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Farley is the son of Sarah Spangler of Edmonds and is a 2011 graduate of Meadowdale High School.
Navy Seaman Joshua Michel, son of Dawn and Peter Michel of Snohomish, recently completed basic training at U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Michel is a 2008 graduate of North Sound Christian High School in Mountlake Terrace.
