Help Stanwood cancer victim's family with bills

STANWOOD -- Jen Bell-Burgess, the subject of a community campaign earlier this year to raise money for her family, has died from a rare form of cervical cancer.

Bell-Burgess, 38, a 1992 graduate of Stanwood High School, died July 26. She and her husband, Matt Burgess, are the parents of two teenage daughters and a preschool-aged son.

Bell-Burgess had not been able to work as a phlebotomist at the Everett Clinic for more than a year. Burgess used up all of his time off from work at PetroCard in Arlington.

The couple filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, said their friend Janet Johnston.

People who want to donate to the Bell-Burgess family to help cover funeral costs, outstanding medical bills and other expenses can do so at Union Bank, 8870 271st St. NW.

People can submit donations to the Jen Bell-Burgess memorial account.

Services for Bell-Burgess are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Warm Beach Free Methodist Church, 20815 Marine Dr., followed by a celebration of her life at 1 p.m. at Kayak Point County Park, 15610 Marine Dr.
