SEATTLE -- A former White House press secretary for George W. Bush has been named Seattle University's new vice president for communications.

The Jesuit school said in a statement that Scott McClellan will begin his university appointment Sept. 17. The school said he'll be responsible for creating, implementing and overseeing the university's communications and marketing strategy.

School President Stephen Sundborg said he looks forward to McClellan's contributions "as we continue to elevate our regional, national and international profile."

After leaving the White House, McClellan wrote about his ex-boss in the book "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception."
