CAMP MURRAY -- Firefighters have made good progress in building fire line around a wildfire that has burned nearly 19 square miles of grass, brush and scattered timber in central Washington.
Another fire has burned about 1 ½ square miles in the southeast corner of the state.
No structures are threatened.
In central Washington, fire spokesman Dan Garner said late Friday afternoon that the Crane Road Fire was about 80 percent contained. Crews planned to be on the fire line throughout the night, mindful of warmer weather forecast for the weekend. That fire broke out Wednesday between Pateros and Brewster.
Deputy State Fire Marshal Ron Bowen says the state has sent equipment and a management team to help fight the Weissenfels Ridge Fire. It started Thursday five miles south of Asotin and is burning grass, brush and wheat.
