Price of fame

Kudos to Roe for view on criminals

A big round of applause to The Herald for publishing Mark Roe's Sunday guest commentary, "What is the price of fame?" The column is well written and absolutely on the mark. I, for one, would be very pleased for today's so-called "reporting" to quit ballyhooing the monsters who thrive on their ill-conceived and sick twisted notoriety.

Whatever happened to the "five W's and an H" style of classic reporting? "Just the facts, ma'am." Let's quit ballyhooing/glorifying the culprits. Let's keep them anonymous. Tell the story, but eliminate the "star power." Did you get as weary of the over-hyped "Barefoot Bandit" as I did? His trail of wanton, idiotic disregard for everything and everyone could have been told without his name and picture plastered everywhere. I, for one, stopped reading long before that mess played itself out.

The criminals/monsters of our world should remain forever anonymous, from the outset to the end. I appreciate Mark Roe for expressing this so well.
