Schools should be source of pride

Regarding the Penn State scandal: The ones who will also suffer the from this horrific experience are not only the innocent children "buried" in a conspiracy of silence, but students, past and present, who call Penn State their alma mater.
Also, count in the football teams of many years, who not only lost their winning records, but are sadly affect by the fallout forever.
I attended the University of Redlands in Redlands, Calif., and graduated 62 years ago. They have always served a balanced program and schedule, every activity, fraternity, every athletic division deserved and received equal time, equal attention, equal publicity.
It's true, the UR is a small school compared to Penn State, but if this is a sign of future problems on larger campuses going overboard on money issues, publicity, and limited purpose, we need to stop and figure if these colleges are turning into "big businesses" rather than environments that fill us with knowledge, sportsmanship, life-long friends, and wonderful "growing up" guidance!
My college has encouraged a loyalty that grows with each campus communication. No matter our ages or lifestyles, we keep coming back to campus more year after year. That's how it should be! Rah! Rah! Redlands!
