MILL CREEK -- A 12-year-old Everett boy has died after being rescued from Martha Lake earlier this week.

Jeremiah Monroe Jr., died Wednesday at a Seattle hospital, according to the King County Medical Examiner's Office.

He was rushed to the hospital Monday after rescue crews found him under water at the suburban lake, west of Mill Creek*.

His cause of death was freshwater drowning, officials said. His death was ruled an accident.

Police believe the boy was visiting the lake with friends and their parents.

A man spotted his body under water about 6:30 p.m. and called 911.
