On the river: The Stillaguamish Festival of the River is Friday to Sunday in Arlington. There will be music, a pow wow with dancing and drumming by tribal groups from throughout the region, environmental exhibits and interpretive walks, a logging show, lots of children’s entertainment and activities, performances by the New Old Time Chautauqua circus troupe and sales of American Indian crafts, traditional alder-baked salmon dinner and other food. Arts and more: Marysville’s HomeGrown Festival features lots of one-of-a kind handmade crafts such as soap, clothing, jewelry, fused glass, paintings, flowers and produce, along with food and live entertainment. The festival is 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday along Third Street, east of State Avenue in downtown Marysville.
Get dirty: Young gardeners can make “dirt babies” and then take them home and watch as their hair grows out of control. Tour Pilchuck Glass School: The school opens its private Stanwood campus once each summer. On Sunday, from noon to 5 p.m., you’ll have a chance to watch hot glass demonstrations by renowned glass artists, take a tour, browse glass art that will be for sale only during this event, and participate in hands-on glass activities. Meet the author: Jess Walter, author of the hugely successful book “The Financial Lives of the Poets,” plans to speak and sign books at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Walter’s most recent book, “Beautiful Ruins,” is described as being an intricately plotted, upbeat tragicomedy of stardom and unrequited love set in Hollywood, but grounded in the events of a 1962 Italian movie set.
See the Hawks: The Seahawks play an exhibition game this weekend. They face the Titans, with former Hawk Matt Hasselbeck and former UW star Jake Locker. The game is at 7 p.m. in Seattle.
