Arlington: Find A Grave presentation
Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society offers a free program on the Arlington Cemetery and the Find A Grave website at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Arlington Free Methodist Church, 730 E. Highland Drive.
Larry Taylor and Leilani Lucrisia voluntarily photographed all the headstones in the Arlington Cemetery and have placed them on the Find A Grave website, They plan to explain how to use the free website, which offers information and pictures from around the country.

Camano Island: Sailboat festival
A two-day small sailboat festival is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 1 and Sept. 2 at Cama Beach State Park, 1880 SW Camano Drive.
The festival celebrates the art of small-boat sailing and features activities for all ages, including games, music, racing, sailing, sailing lessons, boat building workshops, crabbing and fishing. Kayak, rowboat and sailboat rentals are available at the event by The Center for Wooden Boats.
Admission is free. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to the event.

Everett: County to consider railyard
The Snohomish County Council later this month is expected to make a decision on purchasing from the Port of Everett a railyard facility that serves as a hub for garbage operations.
The issue is scheduled for the county's regular 10:30 a.m. Monday meeting on Aug. 20. It's up to the council do authorize a purchase and sale agreement for the nearly 16-acre property and to allow the county executive's office to complete the $7.8 million deal.
The rail yard is in the Port's Riverside Business Park on the Snohomish River. The land includes tracks and a spur of Burlington Northern Santa Fe's rail yard. It's where containers full of the county's garbage are loaded onto trains heading to Roosevelt, in Klickitat County.
By buying the property, the county hopes to better manage its garbage operations.
Mountlake Terrace: Arts contest deadline nears
The deadline for entries in the 34th annual Arts of the Terrace juried art show is Aug. 30.
The Mountlake Terrace Arts Advisory Commission is seeking paintings, prints, drawings, miniatures, calligraphy, photographs and sculptures for the show.
More than $4,000 in prize money is available. "Arts of the Terrace" is scheduled for Sept. 29 through Oct. 7.
