VANCOUVER, Wash. -- Clark County deputies arrested a Vancouver man accused of sending threatening emails to a state Senate candidate because he didn't want to receive her election fliers in the mail.

Gary K. Own, 50, was arrested Thursday for investigation of felony malicious harassment.

He's accused of sending emails last month and Aug. 4 to Eileen Qutub, who had mailed fliers to registered voters.

The Columbian reports that in one email, the writer said he doesn't know how she got his name and address but he'd rather put a bullet in her "stupid pathetic" Republican brain than vote for her. The writer also used an expletive and said that because she's a Republican and a woman she has no right speaking or even having an opinion.
