GOLD BAR -- A 14-year-old girl was rescued from the Skykomish River near Gold Bar after her kayak flipped over Friday afternoon.

Someone called 911 about 4 p.m. to report the girl stranded on some rocks between Gold Bar and Index, Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Shari Ireton said.

The girl wasn't seriously injured. Police expected to issue a citation for her not wearing a lifejacket.
