EVERETT — Seven people escaped a burning Everett duplex Wednesday morning, officials reported.
Everett firefighters were called to the home in the 1700 block of 63rd Street SE around 7:45 a.m., city spokeswoman Kate Reardon said.
The people living in the homes reported waking up to the smell of smoke and searching for the source before leaving the structure, Reardon said. Crews initially attacked the fire from outside, and entered the duplex at 8:25 a.m. to finish extinguishing it.
The fire was knocked down by about 8:35 a.m.
There were no life-threatening injuries to the residents, but four adults and three children were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center for evaluation, she said. The damage estimate to the structure is $300,000.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
