One of the two Snohomish County write-in candidates found out Tuesday that he will be on the November ballot.
Kevin Morrison, who lives in Edmonds, is vying for the 21st Legislative District seat against state Rep. Marko Liias, D-Edmonds.
The district covers Edmonds, Mukilteo, part of south Everett and unincorporated Snohomish County.
The Snohomish County Elections Division reported the official election results Tuesday. Morrison received 383 votes, or about 2 percent of the vote.
Now that he has earned a place on the November ballot, Morrison plans to do more fundraisers and keep on doorbelling.
“I am going to keep beating the drums,” Morrison said.
Meanwhile, voters in Snohomish and King counties who fall within the 1st Legislative District need to wait until Friday to know if they will have a contested election.
The Secretary of State is to announce if Republican candidate Mark Davies, of Bothell, got the 1 percent of votes required to advance.
Davies ran as an unregistered write-in candidate against state Rep. Luis Moscoso, D-Mountlake Terrace.
The main difference between being registered or unregistered is that registered write-in candidates can have votes cast for them counted even with minor misspellings, or if the candidate’s party preference is wrong or not indicated.
Davies got at least 400 votes in Snohomish County. In King County, he received 135 votes.
The total could climb, but it will depend on the state to determine if other spellings of his name should count, said Garth Fell, Snohomish County elections manager. Davies was out of state and unavailable for comment.
His wife and campaign manager, Eva Davies, was optimistic that he will make it to the general election.
“Running as an unregistered write-in candidate is not easy to pull off,” she said.
