Archbishop Murphy-King's football game to be televised by ROOT Sports

The Archbishop Murphy football team has quite a start to the season.
After opening at home against North Kitsap, the Wildcats fly to San Diego to take on University City High. Then things really get interesting as Archbishop Murphy hosts King's in a game that will be televised by ROOT Sports Northwest.
"That's a pretty good way to start the season," said Archbishop Murphy head coach Bill Marsh. "I don't know if any other teams in Washington have a first three weeks that are that exciting."
For King's, which is ranked No. 1 in the Tacoma News Tribune's Class 1A rankings, it's a chance to broaden its audience and show off its burgeoning football program.
"It's will be fun," said King's athletic director Jeff Geers. "It's going to have a playoff-like atmosphere and it's a great opportunity to show off King's football to people who don't know who we are."
Because it can fit football games around a usual Mariners' day off, ROOT Sports will televise the Game of the Week on Thursday night, forcing Archbishop Murphy and King's to reschedule their game from Friday, Sept. 14 to Thursday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m.
"In my opinion, it is the marquee game of week three," Marsh said.
Archbishop Murphy, which played in the 2A state title game a year ago, has undergone a big change in the offseason. Gone are head coach Dave Ward and assistant coach Jeff Schmidt and in is former Eastside Catholic head coach Marsh. King's, meanwhile, returns a large part of a team that made a deep run in the playoffs in 2011, including quarterback and BYU-commit Billy Green and lineman and Yale-commit Mason Friedline.
