Must be true; it’s on TV

Order now and get a free Pocket Fisherman: The Federal Trade Commission has won a $478 million judgment against three operators of "get rich quick" infomercials that enticed a million customers to buy a $39.95 system, then talked many into personal coaching for $14,995.

Actually, the "get rich quick" scheme did work for a few people: the lawyers working with the FTC.

Must have heard about the breakfast buffet's waffle bar: Nevada wildlife officials tranquilized and plan to release into the wild a 2-year-old mountain lion who tried to slip into a Reno casino but couldn't negotiate the revolving door. A wildlife agency spokesman compared the cougar's behavior to "the equivalent of being a stupid teenager."

That's a little unfair; teenagers usually only have trouble with revolving doors when they're trying to text on their phones at the same time.

Nobody's perfect: Nevada's attorney general says the state will appeal a recent ruling by an appeals court that struck down the election option of "none of the above" on its ballots. The judge said the ballots are unconstitutional because votes for "none" wouldn't count in election tallies and "none" could not win an election.

It's sad that in these enlightened times when we recognize that "corporations are people, my friend," that the existence-challenged among us cannot be elected and serve in office.
