Clark Co. man fatally shoots intruder

VANCOUVER, Wash. -- A Clark County man has fatally shot an intruder who entered his bedroom.
The Clark County sheriff's office said deputies and Washington state Patrol troopers responded to a call early Saturday of man reporting he had just shot an intruder.
Officers found dead on the homeowner's floor a 42-year-old man. They did not release his name.
Authorities say the intruder appears to have entered the residence through an unsecured door and had forced his way into a secured bedroom.
Moments before the shooting, a trooper was on a traffic stop processing a suspected drunken driver less than a half a block away from the homeowner's residence when he witnessed a male fitting the intruder's description, stumbling down the sidewalk mumbling incoherently.
As troopers and Vancouver police were searching for the male they were informed of the shooting.
