There is a nice slate of games for opening night, including some nice geographical rivalries if not league rivalries anymore.
Here’s a quick primer on the four games we think will be the best of Week 1:
At Snohomish Veterans Memorial Stadium, 7 p.m.
A nice regional rivalry if not one that will matter in the league standings. An explosive Glacier Peak offense goes up against a retooled Lake Stevens defense.
Arlington vs. Marysville Pilchuck
At Quil Ceda Stadium, 7 p.m.
This is a rivalry that goes back years but now has no bearing on league standings either. Marysville Pilchuck moved down to 3A but has plenty of talent back, while Arlington lost a lot to graduation.
Kamiak vs. Meadowdale
At Edmonds Stadium, 5 p.m.
Another solid regional rivalry with no league implications. Dan Mack has Kamiak poised to rebound behind quarterback Brett Ludeman and running back Austin Hall. Meadowdale returns a lot of talent, including running back Giavani Shepard and newcomer Morgan Masanda.
At Everett Memorial Stadium, 7 p.m.
An interesting Wesco North/South crossover game. Monroe is coming off of a season in which it made the playoffs for the first time in 19 years and has both of its quarterbacks back and tight end Dylan Judson. Jackson, meanwhile, lost its quarterback (Sam Brown) but has an interesting pure athlete in former Cascade player Larry Baker-Bruce.
