'Pro-life' protects most vulnerable

A letter in Friday's Herald, "Platform invades women's privacy," is way off the mark and misrepresents the GOP stance. The writer says that the Republican Party won't keep it's hands off of women's private parts, says that a woman who is a victim of rape must be reminded of the rape every hour of every day. Rape is a violent, horrific crime and many believe that life begins at conception. The supporters of "pro-life" believe that abortion is the taking of a human life, the life of our most vulnerable.

Currently, about 1.2 million abortions are performed every year in the United States. Is the baby in the womb a person, this is a question we must each ask ourselves. If you are pro-choice (actually the stance is pro-abortion) and you have had children, when did you start talking to your stomach? Did you sing to your stomach? Did you go to the doctor regularly and take vitamins, get an ultrasound, when did you decide it was a human being ... When did it become your child?
