50 years ago (1962)
Everett merchants were presenting a free theater party at the Everett Theater. A special comedy feature would include "Ma and Pa Kettle at Home," "The Little Rascals," and "Cartoon Time." No tickets were required.
Mr. and Mrs. W.V. Lindquist of Snohomish, who collected rocks over 30 years in the Western states, completed a rock wall this week showing off their finds. Included on the wall were pieces of turquoise, crystallized sandstone, obsidian and fossils. Mounted in the center of the wall was bronze plaque explaining the wall.
25 years ago (1987)
The Daily Herald's editorial page saluted Parker Williams who had recently died. He was one of the county's most prominent lawyers and civic leaders. A boyhood friend of Sen. Henry Jackson, he often helped him deliver the newspaper. Williams was a hiker, pilot, scuba diver, skier and sailor.
A Redmond development company was purchasing property near the 44th Avenue W. freeway exit, where it planned to locate a corporate office development. The project would be called the Birtcher Corporate Center.
