United announces U.S. routes with Boeing 787s

United Airlines will try out its new Boeing Co. 787s on domestic routes before using the Dreamliners internationally.

The carrier announced on Thursday temporary 787 service out of its Houston hub beginning Nov. 4. Routes include flights to Chicago, San Francisco, Denver, Washington Dulles, Newark, Cleveland and Los Angeles.

United announced plans for flying its Dreamliner aircraft internationally last week.

The carrier expects delivery of its first Boeing 787 in late September, making it the first North American airline to receive and operate a Dreamliner.

A second 787 will join United's fleet in October. Two more 787s are to be delivered in November and United's fifth 787 is expected in December.
