King's reschedules opener, faces 2A No. 1 Lynden

Earlier this week the King's football team's game against Ingraham was canceled.

Instead the Knights will get a much stiffer test. King's head coach announced Thursday morning that the Knights and 2A No. 1-ranked and defending champ Lynden will play at Woolsey Stadium in Shoreline Friday night at 7 p.m. King's is ranked No. 1 in Class 1A, according to the Tacoma News Tribune's preseason poll.

"I called my coaching staff and talked to my captains and they all signed off on it," Shapiro said of the decision-making process. "They're all very excited for the challenge."

Lynden's opener was originally slated to be against a team from British Columbia, but that team had to cancel, leaving the Lions looking for an opponent.

"Be there for an epic early season matchup!" wrote King's lineman Mason Friedline on Twitter Thursday morning.
