Walk: Aid those with developmental disabilities
People can walk, volunteer or have their car washed to help the Village Community Services and its Village Music and Arts program.
The 5th annual Friendship Walk and Car Wash is scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Legion Park Gazebo, 114 N Olympic Ave. in Arlington. Registration for the 1-mile walk begins at 11 a.m. Suggested donation for the walk is $25 per person, and for the car wash is $10. Volunteer: Drivers, kitchen staff needed
The Meals-on-Wheels program and the Senior Services of Island County are looking for volunteers to deliver meals to home-bound seniors.
People can volunteer driving 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays. People can also pitch in as kitchen staff and help prepare the meals. For more information, call 360-387-0222.
Donate: Auction to help Edmonds Senior Center
The Edmonds Senior Center is holding an auction and dinner called "Young at Heart" at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the center's dining room, 220 Railroad Ave.
People can attend by paying $40 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the center's administrative office.
The center is looking for items to be auctioned off. Smaller gift items for gift basket assembly also are needed. People can bring items to the center before the Sept. 12 deadline. For more information, call 425-774-5555.
Help: Volunteer to count pedestrians, bicycle users
The Washington State Department of Transportation is looking for more than 300 volunteers in different cities to help count how many people walk or use their bicycles as a way of transportation.
People are needed in Bothell, Everett and Mountlake Terrace.
Volunteers are needed Sept. 25, 26 and 27.
