The National Lacrosse League announced its 2013 regular season schedule on Tuesday and the Washington Stealth will kick off the season on Saturday, Jan. 5 in the league’s lone game against the defending NLL champion Rochester Knighthawks.
The Stealth will play six of their eight on Saturday nights — the most in team history —in the season that begins in January and concludes in April.
“With six Saturday games on our home schedule, 2013 will be an incredibly exciting season for our fans,” Stealth president David Takata said. “We are going to be aggressive with the enhancement of all facets our game-day experience, from promotions to giveaways to in-game entertainment. It’s going to be a special year on and off the floor for the Stealth and its fans.”
The Stealth travel to Rochester to face the defending champs again on Feb. 2 and travel to Philadelphia to face the Wings on Mar. 9, but those are the only trips to the east coast that the Stealth will make in 2013. The Stealth also get the Calgary Roughnecks at home twice (Feb. 23 and Mar. 30) in 2013.
The Knighthawks and the Edmonton Rush, the two teams who squared off in the NLL Championship game will play each other twice in 2013, in Rochester on Mar. 15 and in Edmonton on Apr. 14.
Note: The day of the NLL Draft has been announced and it will take place Oct. 1 in Toronto.
